Goals for Mexico - Kidney Transplant

In Fundación Televisa we are convinces that the opportunity of saving a life or being able to improve someone’s quality of life is a unique opportunity in which we must get involved with all of our potential. Because of this we have developed several programs to promote the organ donation culture and to procure material and human recourses to achieve transplants for those of our children that do not have the monetary recourses to do so: Goals for Mexico (cornea, kidney and bone marrow transplant) and Donamor

 

Program Objectives:
To improve the quality of life, and even in case of severe gravity, save the lives of Mexican children that require a kidney transplant.

 

How we help:
For every goal scored by the Pumas de la UNAM a kidney transplant takes place.

-Fundacion Televisa, GNP and the Fundacion Nacional de Transplantes A.C. grant the recourses necessary to import the kidneys and for the surgery.
-The Fundacion Nacional de Trsplantes A.C. has a medical team available 24 hrs a day for those people who wish to donate their organs.
-The Fundacion Nacional de Trasplantes A.C. doesn’t procure the kidneys nor does it have a medical team. FUNAT grants the financial recourses needed to accomplish the transplant, orients the patients and directs them towards one of the medical centers in the hospital network that collaborate with FUNAT in this assistance program.
-The Conde de la Valenciana Hospital and the Instituto Nacional de Trasplantes facilitate their installations for the surgeries and supervise the development of the patients.
-Fundacion Infantil Ronald Mc Donald A.C. gives the children’s parents economic help to enable them to stay at the hospital during the time of the child’s operation and recovery.

 

Results:
Since 2001, Fundacion Televisa and its allies have helped 685 Mexicans that required a cornea, kidney and bone marrow transplant.
