“Goals for Mexico” is a joint program between Fundación Televisa and Televisa Deportes, sponsored by Grupo Nacioanl Provincial. Its objective is to: Promote the participation of sports events and athletes with social causes, generate social awareness on the problems that ail México, and promote social compromise through sports.
From 2001 to 2006 athletes have scores 2,945 goals, thanks to which 640,439 people were benefited in the four streams of the Goals for México program: education (technology and reading promotion); nutrition, health (organ transplant and hearing weakness) and housing.
“Goals for México” works through each goal scored by any of the Mexican football first division teams, and other teams such as the National Team, teams from other countries and American Football Teams. Fundación Televisa guarantees the social help to the causes.
The Football Club America sponsors education and technology causes, for each goal they score there is a new media school room (computers and Internet) for a public primary and middle school. From 2001 to 2006 this team scored 323 goals, thanks to which 184,407 students were benefited.
Necaxa, San Luis and Queretaro also support education in the areas of Reading promotion, donating, for each goal, a school library (300 books) for a public primary school. In the same fashion, Chivas, Atlas, Tecos, Morelia and Santos support nutrition: for each goal, 25 children, 5 years of age or less, receive nutritional attention.
Monterrey, Veracruz, Jaguares and Pachuca are involved with health (hearing weakness), with a donation of 6 hearing aids for three children and/or senior citizens for each goal scored. Pumas and Tigres also sponsor health in the organ transplant program, for each goal scored a cornea or kidney is donated to a child or young adult.
Toluca, Atlante and Cruz Azul score goals in favor of housing (a house for a low income family for every goal scored). The teams and their involvement with the different causes have changed through out our five years of work. For example Football Club Nexaca first started with the nutrition program. There has also been support for several causes in an intermittent way, such as the attention given to people affected by natural disasters. (United for Mexico, Alliance for Asia and United for Them). The goals scored during the World Cup signified prosthesis for children at the Shriners Hospital in Mexico.

Housing
Thanks to the goals scored in 2008, 1000 houses were given to families in Michoacan and Guanajuato
Education-Media class rooms
Through to the goals scored by Football Club America, 57 school rooms were equipped in 2008.
Education-Libraries
The 33 goals that the Nexaca team scored resulted in 33 school libraries in the Aguascalientes State.
Health-Hearing Aids
With the sponsorship of GNP the 55 goals scored by Monterrey, Veracruz, Pachuca and Jaguares benefited 165 children (three children per goal) with 495 hearing aids.
Health-Organ Transplant
Since 2001, 644 Mexicans have received a cornea, kidney or bone marrow transplant.
